KWHIA trains Staff on Health insurance administration, digital literacy, others

In its reaffirmation of its commitment towards enhancing staff skills and service delivery, the Kwara State Health Insurance Agency has organised a training program on health insurance administration, digital literacy, and health insurance marketing at the conference room of the agency GRA, Ilorin.

The Executive Secretary of Kwara Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter, during the training program, highlighted the agency’s commitment to improving service care delivery to the residents of the state.

Dr Jetawo-Winter also emphasised the need for participants to stay updated with digital trends, enhance their digital skills, and deepen their understanding of health insurance administration to ensure the efficient operation of health insurance services to residents of the state.

The scribe also noted that any discovered talents would be nurtured to further boost the service delivery of Kwara Care for the overall benefit of the public. “Mediocrity reduces productivity levels and slows down the rate at which objectives are met.
Capacity building translates into gains in efficiencies

On his part, Dr. Osinachi O. Onyeoziri, a health financing specialist and facilitator from PharmAccess, while guiding the participants through the fundamentals of health insurance, described health insurance as the advanced financing of health expenditures through contributions, premiums, or taxes pooled together to cover specific health services defined by a policy or plan.

Dr. Onyeoziri also highlighted the key objectives of the training, which include strengthening participants’ understanding of the basic concepts of health insurance and the operational design of KWHIA’s Kwara Care scheme.

He, therefore, listed some of the benefits packages under the scheme, such as treatment for common ailments, surgical services, childhood illnesses, and eye care. Adding that the scheme is open to
all Kwara residents

Mr. Okpe Bartholomew, an ICT consultant, commended the Executive Secretary’s foresight and ranked KWHIA as one of the leading government agencies in digital compliance in its daily operations.

Mr. Ben Uzo, a team member, took turns to train participants on the basics of internet facilities.

The sessions were divided into groups based on skill level: beginner, intermediate, and advanced, ensuring that no participant lacked basic computer skills.

The training was well attended by key participants, including the Executive Secretary of KWHIA, Dr Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter, Head of ICT at KWHIA, Mr Yusuf Azeez Shola and the entire KWHIA staff, PharmAccess representative Dr Bukola Shittu, facilitators, and others.
