KWASU, Al-Hikmah stop top-up degree programmes
Two universities in Kwara State have announced the discontinuation of their top-up degree programmes in compliance with directives from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Kwara State University said its Top Up/HND Conversion programme would be discontinued from the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a public announcement signed by the Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee, the university said the decision followed regulations issued by the NUC, the regulatory body for universities in Nigeria.
The institution added that the commission would later issue directives on the status of students already enrolled in the programme.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to ethical standards and compliance with policies of the regulatory body.
Similarly, Al-Hikmah University announced the immediate discontinuation of admissions into its Top-Up Degree Programmes.
In a disclaimer issued by the management, the university said the move was in line with the NUC directive.
The institution stated that admission into its undergraduate programmes would now be strictly through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The management also warned members of the public against patronising individuals or groups claiming to offer admissions outside approved channels.
