Kwara’s Sanitation Committee Hand Out 528 waste boxes
The recently inaugurated Special Task Force on Environmental sanitation has on Wednesday, 11th December, 2019 kicked off the distribution of 528 waste bins as the state government commences plans clean up the state capital and clear heaps of refuse in the metropolis.
The 528 waste boxes were recently bought by the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration as a makeshift measure to curb the challenge of refuse dumps in major axes of the state capital.
Razaq Jiddah, head of the adhoc committee who led his team to present 10 of the bins to the Kwara State Government House on Wednesday, said they the service would be spread to other parts of the city, especially areas with high refuse dumps.
Jiddah revealed that the waste boxes have so far been given out to densely populated areas such as Oja Oba, Alanamu Market, Mandate market, Ago market, Gegele Market, Ipata market, and Ita Alanamu community after clearing load of refuse dumps there.
“The Task Force has also started distributing refurbished Roro bins from the environment ministry. One each has been taken to Tanke and Surulere/Agbo Oba junction, while one will be placed at Ita Ajia, two at Ipata market, and one along the Airport Road,” according to Jiddah.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, however eulogised the committee for executing excellent duty in order to ensure a healthy and hygienic environment.
“I want to thank you for the work done so far. I want you to keep it up to get rid of the waste and reorganise the waste as it should be. I went round today and I saw what you have been doing, most of the heaps have been piled up for more than 10 years and you make sure you clear them. Thank you again for your being proactive,” he concluded.
