The Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) Kwara State chapter, Evang. Stephen Awoyale (JP) has encouraged all Christian faithfuls to imbibe the culture of lending support to one another.
Awoyale described the art of supporting one another as a virtue that faithfuls should subscribe to, on a daily basis.
The evangelist made this call at the launch of the maiden YOWICAN Education Support (YES) Initiative at the grand finale of the yearly CAN universal week of prayer which took place at St Barnabas Cathedral Church Ilorin.
He said, “Christians should imbibe the spirit of giving especially to the less privileged amongst us. Our faith admonished us to be our brother’s Keeper at all times and Jesus can only effectively be preached when we show His kind of love to the world. ”
Awoyale further said, ”YOWICAN Education Support (YES) Initiative is the association’s way of lending an helping hand to the less privileged in the body of Christ and a way of encouraging education amongst Christian youths in the State.
He implored Christian faithfuls to lend support to and solidarize with the initiative to ensure that more people become beneficiaries of it.
He also admonished them to partner with the initiative to complement the efforts of the association.
Rt. Reverend S.T.G Adewole, the Chairman of the Kwara State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), while presenting scholarship award to the beneficiaries, implored the beneficiaries to see the scholarship award given to them as assets that should be properly used.
The Informant247 learned that 42 students from across the 16 Local Government Areas and and whom were chosen from different denominations in the State were beneficiaries of the YES initiative.
The initiative is an educational support establishment whose responsibility and objective were to give scholarship support to willing Christian youths.
The initiative lends assisting hands to faithfuls that could not proceed with their studies as a result of lack of funds, or those at the verge of becoming drop outs in primary and secondary schools so that they can return to the classroom and recommence their studies.
It aims at reducing the rate at which students drop out of the school in the state.
