The lawmaker representing Owode/Onire state constituency, Hon. Rukayat Shittu has begun the distribution of palliative to support market women in her constituency.
According to Shittu, the effort is aimed at advancing the efforts of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to cushion effect of fuel subsidy removal.
The youngest female lawmaker in Nigeria who kick started the movement with visitation to Temidire Market in Efue/Berikodo ward of Owode/Onire Constituency, also used the opportunity to engage and enlighten the rural community at the ward level about the policy of the current administration, assuring them that the policy will ultimately lead to better service to the people.
Speaking with the people at Temidire market over the weekend, she maintained that the people shouldn’t see this harsh government policy as anti-masses, noting that the process of building a beautiful house maybe tedious and stressful, but if done successfully, it will provide permanent shelter for every member of the family.
Recall that the Kwara State governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had initiated various palliative measures to cushion effect of the ongoing federal policies to various sectors, including civil servants, students, etc.
Rukayat, who believes that the state government should not be left alone to shoulder the responsibility of catering for the people initiated the palliative to reach out to more indigent constituents, particularly those managing small businesses in Owode/Onire constituency.
She commended the efforts of the state government in this trying period and prayed for God’s continued guidance for the leaders.
