Kwara United Football Club on Sunday lost 2-1 to Warri Wolves, at the Warri City Stadium in the Week Eleven NPFL match, as the General Manager of the Club, Bashir Badawiy reads riot acts to players and coaches.
Kwara United started well, dictating the phase of the game, but the inability of the strikers to put the ball into the net denied them the great opportunity of deciding the match, even from the first half.
Wolves however, siezed the initiative in the closing minute of the half, no thanks to lack of concentration in United’s defence, to score the first goal in the 38th minute.
Goals from Sunday Williams in the 38 minute, and Efe Yarhere in the 52 minute, both from defensive error, gave the home team all three points at stake.
Alao Danbani got one back for Kwara United FC in the 58 minute, but the team was unable to build on that to wrestle at least, a point from the time wasting Wolves, who were also helped out by the Ball Boys who stored away match balls.
Badawiy, who was not too satisfied with the performance of the team charged the players and coaches to sit up, to compensate for the commitment of the state government on the team.
According to him, more efforts from the players and coaches would have made the difference, warning that the position of the team on the table doesn’t call for complacency at all, both at home and away.
He said that the management is not and will not leave any stone unturned at ensuring that the team move away from it’s current position, adding that that can only be possible with complete change of attitude, and improved performance from players and coaches.
Kwara United Football Club will be up against Abia Warriors in Week 12, at home in Ilorin on Sunday.
