Kwara United left frustrated as Abia Warriors pick point in Ilorin

It was another disappointing moment for fans of Kwara United on Wednesday when the team was held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Abia Warriors on matchday 24 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The Harmony boys came into the encounter with ample motivation after playing out a 1-1 draw against Wikki Tourists away from home in their last game but had to deal with another trouble moment on their home ground.

While a win in the game could have further earned the team some bit of stability on the login view of their continental ticket dream, Ilorin fans were again left frustrated with the wasteful Kwara team that is yet to record any win in their last four games.

Abia Warriors took the affairs with tactics and caution, even as the home side dominated the game with ample scoring chances; their wastefulness in the goal mouth did no thanks to their efforts.

Tiza Samuel had in the stroke of halftime get the breakthrough for the hosts, but the lead would only last for the respite period as the visitors came in the second half to grab the equalizer through Valentine Odoh in the 55th minute.

Sharing the spoils in Ilorin means the Harmony Boys still maintain their 5th position on the log with 37 points while a point on the road for Coach Imama Amapakabo’s side is a tonic as they also continue to seek more stability on the table- occupying 14th on the roll with 27 points.

Kwara United will be hoping to cause an upset at Akwa City Stadium when they face Rangers on matchday 25 away from home as Abia Warriors play host to the relegation-threatening MFM FC.
