Kwara United dims Sunshine Stars with 3-0 victory
Kwara United Football Club delivered an outstanding performance on Wednesday, defeating Sunshine Stars of Akure 3-0 in matchday 7 of the Nigeria Premier Football League at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
The Harmony Boys, determined to bounce back after a narrow loss to Abia in Umuahia, dominated the game from the start. Wasiu Alalade capitalized on a defensive error by Sunshine Stars to open the scoring in the 30th minute. He doubled Kwara United’s lead eight minutes later, expertly converting a cross from Akanni Akeem.
In the second half, Kwara United continued their strong form. In the 70th minute, Emmanuel Ogbole, who had just replaced Alalade, was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty. Although Akanni Akeem missed the spot kick, Shola AbdulRaheem was quick to react, scoring the rebound and securing the third goal for the home side.

Sunshine Stars struggled to create any meaningful chances, with Yahaya Ibrahim, Anthony Anioke, and Kabir Muhammed maintaining a solid defensive line to preserve the clean sheet.
Acting head coach Ashifat Suleiman, standing in for Tunde Sanni, praised his players for their performance and adherence to instructions. Coach Kennedy Boboye of Sunshine Stars also acknowledged Kwara United’s impressive display, stating they deserved the win.
