Kwara to withhold November Salaries, bonuses for workers without KWSRRA number

The Kwara State Government has announced that public sector employees without a valid Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA) number will not receive their November 2024 salary or bonuses.

This decision follows months of ongoing efforts to ensure that every worker completes their KWSRRA registration.

KWSRRA, established by law, is responsible for collecting data on all residents in Kwara State and issuing unique identification numbers to each person.

This system, according to the Kwara State government is designed to improve planning, resource management, public service delivery, and security across the state.

A statement by the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, emphasised the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

Dr. Hauwa Nuru stated that all state employees, including those working in Kwara’s 16 local government areas, were previously instructed to register with KWSRRA as part of these efforts.

“Starting from November 2024, employees who have not registered with KWSRRA will be excluded from salary and bonus payments,” Dr. Nuru said.

She stressed that KWSRRA registration is essential for creating an accurate database that will enable the state to serve its residents better.

“Registering every state worker strengthens our payroll system, improves service delivery, and builds trust in our processes,” she added.

According to Dr. Nuru, a comprehensive employee database will also enhance resource management and planning.

“Reliable data is crucial for making informed decisions, managing resources effectively, and ensuring fair and accurate compensation for eligible employees,” she explained.

The government has urged unregistered state employees to visit their nearest KWSRRA registration centre without delay.

“Kwara State is committed to building a more efficient and fair system for all its workers and residents,” the statement concluded.
