Kwara teacher in court for sexually assaulting 7-yr-old pupil

The Kwara State Family Court, on Thursday, docked a teacher, Akorede Hammed, who allegedly sexually assaulted his seven-year-old pupil.

The defendant (Hammed), was dragged before Magistrate Shade Lawal of the State family court, on the allegation of act of gross indecency contrary to section 285 of the penal code law.

The Police First Information Report revealed that the girl narrated how she was molested to his father at home.

In a bid to address the issue, the police report stated that the victim’s father, wrote a complaint to the Area Command Metro, Ilorin, narrating how her daughter was allegedly sexually abused.

The girl, through the complaint, said Hammed, took her Basic ll girl to a toilet, at His Grace School, Oyun branch in Ilorin, and locked her up so as to conceal the crime from the knowledge of the passersby.

She added that Hammed removed her pant and started molesting her private part with fingers.

Hammed was also said to have opened the door for the girl to go after she resisted vehemently, the immoral moves.

Police investigation revealed that, Hammed, who was the victim Yoruba teacher, absconded from the school to an unknown place until he was later seen and arrested by the detective of the Area Command Metro.

The proceedings was, however, stalled following the absence of the victim in court as Magistrate Lawal, insisted that the girl must be physically present before the matter could proceed.

The court, in its short ruling, adjourned the matter till 16th September, 2020.
