After about a couple of years and consistent refusal to obey several court orders on the swearing in of the member-elect representing Ilorin South Constituency, Hon. Jimoh Raheem Agboola, the Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi would finally swear-in member elected on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday, 9th, February 2021.
The new development was announced in a statement by the Clerk to the House, Hajia H.J. Kperogi in Ilorin, the state capital.
The statement read: “This is to inform the General Public that the Swearing-in for the Member-Elect (Ilorin South) Constituency, Hon. Jimoh Raheem Agboola has been scheduled for Tuesday, 9th February, 2021 in the Kwara State House of Assembly Hallowed Chamber at 10. O’clock in the morning.
Recall that the Federal high court sitting in Ilorin, last two years, declared Hon. Agboola as the winner of the Ilorin South constituency of the State House of Assembly election held on March 10, 2019, and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to issue him a certificate of return.
Agboola will be the only member of the opposition party, PDP, in the APC – dominated Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Speaker, while justifying his refusal to obey court orders on Agboola, explained that Elewu, the substituted candidate of the APC in the House of Assembly election, was not joined in case that challenged the election result at the election petitions tribunal.
