Kwara Poly student, Baki emerges NANS senate clerk, breaks 15 years record

Kwara State Polytechnics student, Estate Management department, Comrade Saad Olatunji Baki has been elected as the senate clerk of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS at the just concluded national convention.

Baki, after the convention, paid a courtesy visit to the the rector of the Kwara state polytechnic, Dr. Abdul Jimoh, and other administrators of the citadel of learning.

It was learnt that no student of Kwara State Polytechnics has won any contested post at the National Association Of Nigeria Students’ for fifteen years, until Baki breaks the old record.

Storming the institution, students in their large number from various departments gathered to receive him at school main campus and led him to pay a visit to the school management.

While addressing the students in his office on Tuesday, the rector, Dr. Abdul Jimoh, commended the newly elected senate clerk, Comrade Sa’ad Olatunji Baki for his sagacity and courage to triumph among his contesters.

He said, “Comrade Sa’ad Olatunji Baki has done fantastic well and his name will forever be remembered in the history of the school as he returned the lost glory on campus. I must commend his courage and sagacity for coming victorious among many contestants.”

Baki, however, appreciated the effort of the Kwara State government for keeping her promises on the development of the Polytechnic despite the economic instability, stressing that without the government immense contributions, the victory will not be recorded.

He further thanked the SUG president, Comrade Abdulsalam Gbolahan, Comr Saleeman Yusuf Issah, AAT, ACA Aluta Last Born for maintaining peaceful co-existence between the students and the management.

“History has been killed and undermined, so we the youths do not know where we are coming from not to talk of knowing where we are heading to. But as it is, we will not relent to do what is right. The new leadership in NANS is here to work with the students to achieve our set aims and objectives. We believe that the student movement has its space in history. It is a task that we vow to fulfill and we will never let Nigerian students down,” he expressed.
