Kwara Poly Rector urges SU to sensitise students on hotel benefits

The Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, Dr Abdul Mohammed, has urged the newly sworn in Students Union officials to sensitise colleagues on the benefits of living in the hostel.

Mohammed, who spoke at the inauguration of the executive in Ilorin on Thursday, said that it was important for the students to know that living in the hostel was safer and economical.

“Let me implore the new students union executives to intimate their colleagues to see reason why leaving in the hostels is more advantageous than to seek for accommodation outside the campus, it is safe and economical.

“We have done everything humanly possible to reduce academic stress via complete renovation of hostels with all the appropriate facilities.

“We have improved on everything at the hostels; provide constant power supply to illuminate the nook and cranny of the Polytechnic and all laboratories through connection with the national grid and construction of solar power,” he said.

The rector also advised the student union leaders to study harder and see learning as their prime objective in the institution.

He commended all the students of the polytechnic for the ways they conducted themselves during and after the e-voting electioneering process.

In his acceptance speech, the President of the Students, Mr Babatunde Korede, pleaded with the students to be law abiding and shun all acts of criminality. (NAN)
