The Kwara State police command has reacted to the arrest of the kidnap suspects and the release of the Magistrate Oladapo Jumoke Bamigboye.
The police command said it received the information regarding the kidnap on 05/11/2022 at about 1800hrs.
Magistrate Oladapo Jumoke Bamigboye ‘F’ residing at the GRA, Ilorin was reportedly kidnapped in her farm situated at Ayegun Village via Eyenkorin, Ilorin at about 1730hrs of the same day.
The spokesperson of the police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the development in a signed statement released on behalf of the Commissioner of Police Kwara State, Cp Paul Odama.
The spokesperson of the police command stated that on receiving the information, Cp Paul Odama, the Commissioner of Police Kwara State mobilized his men alongside some local hunters to the affected scene to secure the release of the kidnapped victim.
“The victim was geo-located to have been hidden in the forest between Eyenkorin/Afon/ Ogbomoso axis, this discovery emboldened the police teams to intensify their search,rescue and arrest operation in the located area which consequently culminated in the release of the victims.
The mouthpiece of the police command said that the police and local hunters were able to recover the victim’s vehicle.
He said three (3) male suspects Mamud Ibrahim, Abubakar Ibrahim, Muhamed Kiri were arrested.
He added that one female suspect identified as Abibatu Jimoh who was reported to have been supplying the kidnappers with Garri and other foodstuffs which the victims fed on while in kidnappers den.
The spokesperson further said that police investigation was still ongoing and efforts to arrest the remaining abductors have been intensified.
He said the victim has re-familiarized with her family after receiving medical attention to know her state of wellbeing.
The spokesperson said the commissioner of police has empathized with the victim over the incident and her experience in the hands of the kidnappers.
He added that CP stated that the force would continue to strengthen the security machinery for possible eradication of criminality and crimes in the State.
He further said the CP also sent message of advice to the the good people of the state to remain conscious of happenings around them at all times in their area.
He said the CP has confirmed that the suspects apprehended would be dragged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
