People in Kwara increasingly choose government-owned health institutions because of improved services, according to Dr Raji Razaq, the state’s Commissioner for Health.
Razaq stated this on Wednesday in Ilorin at the Children Specialist Hospital, Centre-Igboro, while addressing the management, staff and parents of children accessing the medical facility.
According to him, the health system put in place by the present administration in the state is impacting positively.
Razaq explained that he was in the hospital as part of the routine monitoring and evaluation process to access utilisation of the facility.
“People now prefer Centre-Igboro because the governor has changed the narratives.
“People must represent the government well by making themselves accessible and available to provide qualitative medical services,” he said.
Razaq charged the health workers to design their itinerary in order to accommodate the increasing number of patients, who now prefer to access care at the dedicated Children Hospital in the state.
The commissioner rejoiced with the staff and Kwara workers on the salary increase, following the implementation of the consequential adjustments for the new minimum wage.
“You need to give more in return for what government has done to improve your welfare,” he said.
He pointed out that as the government had addressed the infrastructural deficits in the facility, all other needs too would be addressed.
Receivong the commissioner earlier, Dr Mosunmola Folorunsho, the Medical Director, commended the state government for investing in the health sector.
Folorunsho told the ommissioner that facility introduced some initiatives to make healthcare delivery service seamless.
