Just after the resignation of the party secretary, Razaq Lawal a fortnight ago, the organizing secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP),in Kwara State, Bilikisu Oniyangi has tendered her own resignation.
Oniyangi, who served as the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development under ex-Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed conveyed her decision in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the party, dated 24th November, 2023.
The letter reads in part;
“Please accept this letter as formal resignation from my position as the State Organizing Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I regret to inform you that I am resigning due to personal reasons. While it was a difficult decision to make, it is the best course of action for me at this time
“I want to thank the party leadership, headed by HE, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and the state working committee led by Hon. Mohammed Babatunde.
“I appreciate the experience, camaraderie, and knowledge gained during my time with the team. Let me state categorically that I remain a committed member of the PDP and hope to continue to serve to take our party forward.
“Once again, thank you for the opportunity to be part of a great team and I wish you all the best.” She said.
Meanwhile, the party through a statement from its Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara has accepted the resignation of Oniyangi.
“We’ve just received formal resignation notice from the state’s Organising Secretary of our party, Hajia (Dr.) Biliks Oniyangi, who had served the party diligently in that capacity since 2022” the statement reads.
It stated that the resignation of the Oniyangi was premised on her change of location, occasioned by a new career role, which she recently assumed outside the state.
While apprceciating her service to the party, the statement added that the development does not in anyway affect her status as party member.
“It is therefore important to state that her resignation from office does not affect her membership status in the party as she remains a bona-fide member of PDP in Kwara state.
“While appreciating her contributions so far to the party and democratic struggles of Kwara State, the party and its leadership have accepted her resignation and wished her good tiding in her future endeavours”
