Kwara PDP denies relying on Tinubu ‘deal’ for 2027, faults Prof. Gana Yisa

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has dismissed claims credited to Professor Gana Yisa, a former member of the party now in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), that the PDP is banking on a “deal” with President Bola Tinubu to reclaim power in 2027.

In a statement signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, on Sunday, the PDP described the remarks as “falsehood” and an attempt to misinform the public.

The party said it found it “laughable” that Professor Yisa would allege that PDP’s strength in Kwara depended on external backing.

It argued that the party had demonstrated its influence during the last local government elections, which Yisa himself reportedly admitted were overwhelmingly won by the PDP before being “subverted” by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adewara also faulted Yisa’s assertion that PDP failed to pursue legal action after the polls.

According to him, PDP candidates in Patigi, Offa, Ilorin South, Irepodun, and several other LGAs filed petitions at the tribunals challenging the results announced by the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC).

The statement further accused Yisa of failing to make meaningful contributions to the party during his time as a member.

It alleged that he could not finance nomination fees for aspirants in his local government and relied on support from former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki to sponsor candidates.

The PDP also linked Yisa to alleged “clandestine collaboration” with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, claiming his recent comments were part of a plot to weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Unfortunately for the plotters, Kwarans are wiser. They know the suffering, insecurity, and poverty the AbdulRahman government has inflicted on them, and no amount of propaganda from political contractors masquerading as opposition will change the reality,” the party said.

The statement reiterated that PDP remains focused on consolidating its grassroots base and providing what it described as a “genuine rescue mission” for Kwara people.
