Kwara PDP crisis deepens as aggrieved CWC members insist Party chair, Kola Shittu must resign
The crisis in the Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new turn as some aggrieved members of the party’s central working committe (CWC) are insisting on the resignation of Kola Shittu, the state embattled chairman.
Before Tuesday’s meeting, some party members had accused the embattled chairman of corruption and incompetency, questioning how he spent fund running to millions of naira.
However, things were said to have become more complicated during the meeting as THE INFORMANT247 obtained an exclusive report of what transpired at the CWC meeting.
A source within the party leadership who spoke off the record disclosed that some alleged financial scandal were blew opened at the CWC meeting held on Tuesday at the party secretariat, presided over by the embattled chairman.
A chieftain of the party, who is also an executive member, according to the source, had expressed anger and displeasure over wrong accusations by party members alleging the CWC had collected over Six Million Naira (N6 Million) as gifts without reporting same to the party.
The state chairman, the source hinted became incoherent and could not denied the claims but tried to explained how the money was collected and spent.
The CWC members who were stunned by the inability of their leader to denied the allegations, as they were equally not in the know of the said gifts were said to be fuming with anger and instantly demanded for the records of the gifts and those that gave them.
While the chairman was trying to explained, the session became rowdy as some members of the excecutives were pointing accusive finger on the chairman and shouting “OLE” “OLE” “OLE” (Thief), bring out our money, some elders were trying to calm the frail nerves to avoid break down of law and order.
It was at that point some aggrieved members of the CWC threatened to attack the chairman and calling for his immediate resignation.
They also requested that he should give the lists of those who gave the financial assistance to the party.
In the same vein, the CWC meeting which was also attended by some local government party chairmen, the source maintained became platform for exchange of hots words and revelation of various atrocities allegedly committed by the offa born Party chairman were been traded.
Recall that Kola Shittu has denied allegations of financial irregularities against him by members of his executives, calling the claims “false”.
The allegations are riddled with lies, “I did not collect a dime from anyone”, he said late Friday, reacting to questions from THE INFORMANT247 correspondent.
