Kwara LG elections: Senator Mustapha hails peaceful polls, confident of APC victory

Senator Mallam Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure victory in the local government elections held across the 16 LGAs of Kwara State.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday after casting his vote at the Ode-Kolawole polling booth, Gambari Ward One, Ilorin East LGA, Mustapha highlighted that an APC win would bolster the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to deliver more democratic dividends to the people.

The Senator noted that the governor’s strong performance at the state level would be mirrored in the local governments, urging elected candidates not to lower the high standards already set.

“It is the good work of the state government that will trickle down because they (elected council officials) will work to share the governor’s vision,” he said.

Commending the peaceful conduct of the elections, Mustapha praised the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) for ensuring a smooth process.

“From my observation, there has been a very cordial electioneering process. I hope the APC will emerge victorious so that we can continue with the good work of Governor AbdulRazaq.”

He also acknowledged minor issues in some polling units but downplayed their significance.

“In every election, there are bound to be complaints, but so far, I am impressed with what I have seen,” he added.

Mustapha, who chairs the Senate Committee on Agricultural Production Services and Rural Development, concluded by urging the winning candidates to remember that their election is a call to serve the people.
