Kwara Judiciary workers join Nationwide protest – The Informant247
Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Kwara State Branch today joined their counterparts across the federation to embark on a peaceful Protest to press home their demands for judicial autonomy.
Recall that the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria(JUSUN) had since April 6, 2021, left the courts in Nigeria under lock and key because of the non-implementation of financial autonomy for the judiciary as the third arm of government.
The union also alleged that the federal and state governments had over the years, declined to grant financial autonomy to the judiciary.
The strike is in a bid to enforce governors across the thirty-six states of the federation to implement the executive order 10 passed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari granting the judiciary financial autonomy.
The state chairman of the union, Comrade Ibrahim Sambo, while addressing reporters emphasized the need for the state judiciary to enjoin some level of financial Independence like their counterparts at the federal level.
The Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, who addressed the protesting judiciary workers said the Governor, Mallam Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman is not around and assured that he will look into the issue upon his return to the office.
