Kwara govt validates 2023 ANRiN report on nutrition
In a move to eradicate malnutrition among children, the Kwara State Government, through the State Committee on Food and Nutrition, has validated the year 2023 Report on Partners’ Interventions on Nutrition.
The report was validated by the Acting Chairman of the State Committee on Food and Nutrition (SCFN), Alhaji Surajudeen Kayode Alimi, alongside members of the SCFN at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Finance in Ilorin, the state capital
Alhaji Alimi who doubles as the State Director of the Planning Directorate, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, while speaking, said that the annual report on nutrition activities helped the state government to know their performances and revealed the area of adjustments, adding that the report presents the nutrition interventions of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) involved in nutrition per the Multi-Sectoral Plan of Action for Food and Nutrition (MSPAN).
While presenting the report, the Kwara State Project Manager, Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN), Dr Habeeb Lawal, stated that the state government in collaboration with ANRiN and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have been able to tackle malnutrition to a certain level, aiming at no trace of malnutrition in the state, adding that the report is to avoid duplication of efforts and also to prevent wastage of resources.

The project manager further revealed that ANRiN has extended its partnership with the state government to further curb malnutrition and ensure sustainability.
Dr Habeeb lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for following up on all the nutrition activities and for providing undiluted support.
He also commended members of the SCFN for the efforts made in carrying out their duties diligently and for joining hands with the state government to end the menace of malnutrition in the state.
