Kwara govt trains health workers on effective communication skills
In a bid to ensure effective communication skills, the Kwara State Government has organised training for health workers in the state.
The Informant247 gathered commissioners of three different ministries in the state participated in the training on the importance of teamwork, effective communication skills, customer service, patient care, conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques needed to improve the healthcare sector.
The commissioners, consisting of Commissioners for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, Tertiary Education, Dr Mary Arinde and of Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuhu, gave insightful lectures at the third series of the capacity building organised by the Kwara State Hospital Management Board.
The Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, while presenting a speech at the event, emphasised the importance of effective communication while taking care of patients.
Hon.Olukoju informed health workers that clear and concise communication between healthcare professionals, patients, and their families will always ensure better results and acceptable hospital outcomes.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Mary Arinde, in her lecture titled “Conflict Resolution and De-escalation Techniques”, appealed to all healthcare workers to be well-equipped with strategies to manage conflicts and handle difficult situations while on duty.
According to her, the techniques are essential in maintaining a positive work environment and promoting constructive relationships among patients and team members.
On her part, the Commissioner for Finance, Dr.Mrs Hauwa Nuhu, in her lecture titled, “Teamwork and Collaboration”, emphasized the value of working together to achieve common goals.
Dr. Nuru discussed the benefits of staff collaboration, sharing knowledge and resources, and fostering supportive and cohesive team dynamics.
The lecture papers provided participants with valuable insights and practical strategies that will enhance their communication skills to resolve conflicts and promote teamwork effectively.
