Kwara govt seeks strong partnership with investors in solid minerals to boost internal revenue
The Kwara State Government has expressed its commitment to forming solid partnerships with investors to tap into the state’s rich mineral resources and enhance its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development Chief (Mrs) Abosede Bureimoh disclosed this while giving ministry’s performance in the first quarter of the 2025 Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing on Wednesday.
According to her, the ministry’s primary goal is to identify the abundance of mineral resources in State, adding that by collaborating with investors, which would significantly boost state’s revenue generation efforts.
The Commissioner also highlighted the ministry’s initiative to collaborate with the Kwara Internal Revenue Services to improve revenue generation through haulage collections.
“We believe that a robust collaboration will enhance our capacity to generate revenue effectively,” she added.
Furthermore, Bureimoh emphasized the importance of partnering with the Petroleum Environment and Solid Minerals Degradation Awareness Association (PESMDAA) to eliminate land degradation issues and ensure sustainability within the solid minerals sector.
“It is crucial to sensitize stakeholders about the need to address land degradation and uphold best practices in the industry,” she concluded.
