Kwara govt pays Medical Residency Training Fund to Resident Doctors

The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has said it has successfully paid Medical Residency Training Fund to Resident Doctors to enhance the health care service delivery in the state.

According to Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-lmam, during the quarterly inter-ministerial press briefing held at the Kwara State Ministry of Finance Ilorin, the ministry also approved free medical and surgical outreaches across the sixteen Local Government Areas of the State to enable the less privileged in the State have access to essential healthcare services.

The Commissioner, while highlighting the ministry’s in the second quarter of the year 2024, said it has completed the renovation of primary health care centres, which include the renovation of primary health care centres at Tanke in Ilorin South and Mawokpan in Edu LGA, as well as the renovation of the General Hospital at Afon in Asa LGA, including the construction of a slab at the Primary Health care centre in Alanamu in Ilorin West

The Commissioner, while affirming that the ministry had procured art medical equipment and training of health workers, also emphasised that many ongoing projects are 95% completed, such as the renovation of the primary health care centre at Ojagboro, the structural expansion of the Adewole Cottage Hospital in Ilorin, the renovation of the Eye Clinic at the Sobi Specialist Hospital Alagbado, the renovation of the Cottage Hospital Ilorin, and the construction of the Civil Service Hospital, GRA in Ilorin.

The Commissioner also revealed that the State Government has procured some essential medical equipment for various facilities across the State to boost efficient healthcare delivery.
