Kwara govt partners KWASU to launch electric vehicle conversion

The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with Kwara State University (KWASU), has officially introduced converted electric vehicles to foster sustainable transportation in the region.

This initiative underscores the state’s commitment to innovative technology and reducing carbon emissions.

At the recent handing-over ceremony, the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, highlighted the importance of this endeavor.

“This project marks a significant milestone in our partnership with KWASU, showcasing the potential of electric vehicles to promote eco-friendly transportation in Kwara State,” he stated.

Hon. Adelodun credited the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for his visionary leadership that made the project possible.

He noted, “The successful conversion of vehicles to electric power demonstrates our commitment to sustainable transportation options and how feasible they are in our state. Training for relevant staff will follow soon.”

Mrs. Mary Kemi Adeoshun, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, commended KWASU for its forward-thinking initiative.

She expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for enhancing the quality of life for citizens through impactful projects, stating, “This initiative truly puts smiles on the faces of the people.”

Prof. Kenneth Adeyemi, representing the Vice Chancellor of KWASU, spoke on the pride of the university in working alongside the state government, while commending the Governor for entrusting KWASU with this project and acknowledged the Ministry’s support throughout its execution.

“This initiative is a testament to the viability of partnerships when carried out in a conducive environment,” he remarked.

The collaboration between the Kwara State Government and KWASU aims to enhance environmental awareness and promote sustainable transportation solutions in the state.

As part of the efforts to drive innovation, various officials from the Ministry and KWASU attended the handing-over ceremony, underscoring their commitment to this groundbreaking project.
