Kwara govt clamps down on illegal coaching centres
The Kwara State Government has taken decisive action by sealing off several extra mural coaching centres, computer, and cyber cafes throughout the State for non-compliance with registration and regulatory requirements.
This enforcement comes as a response to violations of the State’s established guidelines.
During an enforcement tour of the affected centres, the Executive Director of the Agency for Mass Education, Mallam Yusuf Saka, represented by the Agency’s Desk Officer for Continuing Education, Mr. Adedare Olusegun, and Mrs. Komolafe Atinuke, outlined the government’s commitment to ensuring compliance.
He stated, “The government had previously instructed all such centres to register and obtain the necessary permits. The failure of some centres to adhere to these guidelines has prompted our enforcement measures.”
Among the sealed centres are Upward Success Academy (Offa Garage), Samis Educational Institute (Olunlade), Best Hand Coaching Centre (Odota), Leadership Seekers Educational Services (Asa Dam), and several others.
Mallam Saka reiterated the position of the government, asserting, “These centres will remain closed until they meet all requirements and settle outstanding dues. Any unapproved centre defying government regulations will face severe penalties.”
The focus of these actions is to regulate the activities of coaching and learning centres within Kwara State, enhancing legal operations and transparency. He further encouraged the proprietors of the affected centres to collaborate with the government to improve the State’s educational standards and boost revenue.
