The Kwara State Government has revised its COVID-19 guidelines to allow asymptomatic patients to stay in home isolation.
However, symptomatic patients were ruled out from home care treatment.
The revised guidelines were contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Technical Committee on COVID-19, Mr. Kayode Alabi and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, the state capital.
Also, results are expected to be released from 24 hours after sampling, the guidelines said.
“For positive results (i), if asymptomatic, please refer patients to Covid-19/Infectious Disease Centre Sobi (Alagbado) Ilorin for counseling, assessment, and treatment — after which patients should self-isolate in their respective homes for a period of 14 days from day of sampling. Patients are encouraged to re-visit sampling centres for repeat testing after 14 day. (ii) If symptomatic, please refer immediately to Covid-19/Infectious Disease Centre Sobi (Alagbado), Ilorin, for further management,” the guidelines added.
Meanwhile, the state government pointed out that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is yet to accredit any private hospital in the state as COVID-19 treatment centre, adding that private facilities are not encouraged to treat suspected or confirmed positive cases.
The guidelines come as the state COVID-19 cases rise to 1,702 on Sunday.
