Kwara garment factory commences operation Q1 2024, targets 2000 jobs

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led Kwara State government on Monday announced the launch of a state-owned garment factory in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024.

According to Fafoluyi Olayinka,
Senior Special Assistant, New Media to the Kwara State Governor, in a statement released, the initiative adjudged to be a factory of the future, has installed 570 sewing machines, cutting machine with a capacity to cut 10,000 polo shirts per 8-hour shift, and a 9-color, 12-hand embroidery machine capable of 1,000 stitches per minute.

The statement added that the machines are currently undergoing pre-commissioning tests by the manufacturers.

The statement also said the Managing Director, Hajia Bukola Adedeji, while overseeing the workforce to power the factory, was mandated to recruit applicants with the best CVs, adding that another set of shortlisted online applicants will be invited for an aptitude test on the 14th of December, 2023, for various operational roles within the factory.

“The recruitment exercise at the Garment Factory will be continuous and in batches.

“The garment factory is built to grow the state’s economy, and 2,000 direct jobs will be created along its different value chains”, the statement concluded.
