Kwara Environment Taskforce evacuates illegal dumpsite at Eiyenkorin

…tasks residents on cleanliness

The Kwara Enviromental TaskForce Committee today, evacuated an illegal dumpsite at Eiyenkorin community of Kwara State.

The community is strategically located at the entrance of Ilorin close to the state international airport.

Before the evacuation

The dumpsite, just by the corner of the popular Eiyenkorin roundabout according to residents, has been used for decades as dumpsite by people of the community before today’s evacuation.

Speaking with residents of the community after the evacuation, they commended the governor for prioritising their welfare and urged him to continue with his gesture.

During the evacuation

A resident, Paul Oladeji, who spoke with THE INFORMANT247 said, said, “We appreciate the governor for this, we are very happy about it, may God continue to bless and guide him. I was happy when I saw you are here for the evacuation, this is were we earn a living. And we also urge the governor to provide waste bin to forestall further reoccurrence, and likewise we need drainage here.”

Isiaka Ishola, an automobile mechanic at the vicinity of the illegal dumpsite lauds the governor.

After the evacuation

He said, “They have been using this place as illegal dumpsite for a longtime and we have been complaining about it to no avail. We tried our best to prevent people but they wouldn’t listen. We appreciate our governor and his team. And we sincerely beg them to assist us with drainage as well.

“We have met and put plan in place to prevent such from repeating itself.”

Reacting to this development, the chairman of the taskforce committe, Abdul-Razhaq Jiddah said the governor is doing his possible best to keep Kwara clean so as to prevent any outbreak of epidemics.

Jiddah further reiterate the taskforce’s commitment to keeping up to the governor’s agenda of making Kwara clean and safe.
