Kwara empowers youth initiatives with financial support

In a proactive step towards enhancing grassroots development, the Kwara State Government has disbursed financial assistance to various community-based youth organizations registered under the Ministry’s development framework.

The disbursement ceremony, led by State Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, took place in the Ministry’s conference room on Wednesday.

This initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to empowering youth-led initiatives that have a meaningful impact on local communities.

Amb. Ndanusa commended the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his unwavering support for youth development and his efforts in creating an enabling environment for young people in the State.

Highlighting the importance of the financial aid, Amb. Ndanusa stated, “Our young people are the backbone of our future, and it is vital that we continue to invest in their potential. This initiative is designed to empower youth groups that are involved in social, educational, and community-building activities, allowing them to further enhance their impact on local communities.”

He also encouraged other groups, associations, and clubs that are not yet registered with the Ministry to take the necessary steps to register and become eligible for future benefits.

The Chairperson of the House Committee on Youth Development, Hon. Rukayat Shittu, underscored that this grant is part of the significant commitments made by Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration.

She emphasized that the Governor is dedicated to fostering youth independence, addressing unemployment, and contributing to national development through enhanced skill acquisition, while urging the beneficiaries to judiciously use the funds and act as responsible ambassadors of the State.

Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, in his goodwill message, expressed gratitude to the State Governor for being supportive of youth initiatives and encouraged the youth to reciprocate by making meaningful contributions to the State’s development.

State Director of Youths, Alh. Abdulsalam Akeem, voiced his appreciation for the initiative and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting young people at the grassroots level. He urged beneficiaries to remain dedicated and responsible in the management of the funds, stating that the success of their projects would serve as an inspiration to others.

Beneficiaries of the program included Ayuba Azeez from Ifesowapo Youth Development, Abdulkadir Kawu Manzuma from the Kwara North Youth Progressive Movement, Afolabi Sikiru from Isale Ofa Youth Association, and Ogunjide Stephen Adetunji from Obo Aiyegunle Youth Vanguard, among others.

The event was attended by top government officials, Ministry staff, and beneficiaries from the 16 Local Government Areas of the State.
