Kwara decries low turnout at health facilities, commences statewide advocacy

The Kwara State Health Insurance has decried low turnout of indigents at the health facilities among those already enrolled through health insurance, set to commence statewide advocacy.

The engagements with Ward Development Committee (WDC) Chairmen, Secretaries, Laison Officers, and Local Government Social Mobilizers were part of efforts to create grassroots awareness about the Health Insurance Scheme.

A statement signed by the Press Secretary, Kwara State Health Insurance Agency, Moyo Abolarin, disclosed that the awareness commenced in Kaiama Local Government Area and will be duplicated in all the local government areas of the State.

The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Olubunmi Jetawo-winter said the aim of the engagement was to bring the WDCs up to speed with happenings in the Agency, identify gaps that should be closed to ensure proper penetration at the grassroots, and also take feedback from the Ward Development Committees.

She emphasized the government’s readiness to enroll more indigent people into the scheme and the need to create the necessary awareness at the grassroots.

Jetawo-winter enjoined the ward leaders to put in more effort in ensuring that their people visit hospitals to access care anytime they feel unwell and also support the government in its quest to build a healthy and wealthy society.
