Kwara declares Oct. 6 work-free day to celebrate teachers’ day

Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has declared Monday, October 6, 2025, a public holiday for teachers across the state in celebration of this year’s World Teachers’ Day, in recognition of their vital contributions to education and national development.

Announcing the governor’s directive, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, praised teachers for their unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and resilience in shaping future generations.

“Our teachers embody patience, sacrifice, and resilience. They nurture minds, shape futures, and drive society’s growth,” Olohungbebe said. “Today, Kwara salutes their labour of love — for without teachers, no profession exists.”

World Teachers’ Day, celebrated annually on October 5, is dedicated to honouring the pivotal role teachers play in transforming lives and societies through education.

The commissioner reiterated the AbdulRazaq administration’s commitment to improving the welfare, training, and working conditions of teachers as part of its broader education reform agenda.
