Kwara CP opens police hospitals in Offa, Omu-Aran

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has launched police hospitals in Offa and Omu-Aran as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery to police personnel and host communities.

Adekimi also laid the foundation for the expansion and upgrade of the Omu-Aran Police Hospital into a multispecialist facility during separate ceremonies in the two communities on Friday.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.

Speaking at the events, Adekimi said the facilities were established to provide quality medical care to police personnel and members of the public, stressing that saving lives remained a priority during medical emergencies.

“The hospitals were established to serve both police personnel and members of the public, with qualified medical professionals providing care. Saving lives remains the immediate priority in medical emergencies,” he said.

The commissioner expressed appreciation to traditional rulers and residents of the two communities for supporting the projects.

The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, Esuwoye II, described the facility as a significant contribution to public welfare and urged the police authorities to maintain high service standards.

The Chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Suleiman Olatunji Omituntun, also commended the initiative and encouraged residents to utilise the facility.

At Omu-Aran, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti Agboluaje, donated additional land for the expansion of the hospital.

The monarch said the facility would help address the healthcare needs of the growing population and pledged continued community support.

Adekimi joined the traditional ruler to perform the foundation-laying ceremony for the proposed multispecialist facility.

The commissioner thanked the people of Omu-Aran for their contribution, saying it underscored the importance of sustained police-community partnerships.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Medical Services in Kwara State, Dr Abdulquadri Balogun, said plans were underway to establish police hospitals across all Area Commands in the state.

He said the proposed multispecialist expansion was aimed at strengthening access to quality and affordable healthcare.

Balogun commended the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, the Force Medical Director, AIG Dr Nkechi Eze, and the Kwara CP for supporting the development of the health facilities.

The command said the initiative was part of its efforts to prioritise personnel welfare while strengthening relations with host communities.
