Kwara approves 65km power line, rehabilitation of Jebba-Bacita feeder

The Kwara State Government has approved the construction of a 65-kilometre 33KV overhead electricity line from the Jebba Paper Mills Injection Substation to Bokungi Village in Edu Local Government Area as part of efforts to improve electricity supply across the state.

The project also includes the rehabilitation of the Jebba/Bacita 33KV feeder from Bokungi to Gbugbu along the Lafiagi-Patigi corridor.

Commissioner for Energy, AbdulAzeez Kola AbdulGaniy, announced the approval while speaking with journalists in his office on Friday.

He said the project reflects the administration’s commitment to expanding access to reliable electricity and strengthening power infrastructure in Kwara.

According to him, the new feeder line will improve electricity supply to Lafiagi, Patigi, Gbugbu, Bokungi and other neighbouring communities, while supporting economic growth and improving residents’ quality of life.

AbdulGaniy said reliable electricity remains a key driver of socio-economic development, noting that the project aligns with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision of promoting inclusive development through strategic investments in critical infrastructure.

He assured residents that the Ministry of Energy would ensure the project is executed promptly and in line with the required technical standards.

The commissioner also urged residents of the benefiting communities to cooperate with contractors handling the project and protect the infrastructure for the benefit of all.
