Kwara: Again, tragic road accident in Okolowo claims two lives
A devastating road accident at Oko-Olowo in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State has again claimed the lives of a mother and her child in the early hours of Sunday after a trailer coming from the Ogidi area suffered brake failure.
According to reports, the driver of the trailer lost control and veered off course, fatally striking the victims, who were riding on a motorcycle.
Radio Kwara gathered that the impact of the crash was devastating, leaving no chance of survival for the mother and her child.
However, a Point of Sale (POS) operator, Suleiman Dauda, who witnessed the incident, stated that the accident happened at approximately 10:00 a.m. when the trailer was speeding down the road when it lost control and ran over the victims.

“It was a horrifying sight. The woman and her child were killed instantly, while the motorcycle rider miraculously escaped”, Dauda recounted.
He further noted that the situation could have been even worse if not for a Dangote trailer parked along the roadside, which eventually brought the runaway vehicle to a stop, preventing further casualties.
Another eyewitness, a businessman Mathias Ekene, confirmed that the identities of the deceased were quickly established, and their family members were contacted.
Meanwhile, residents and commuters in the area have expressed concern over frequent accidents along the Oko Olowo road, urging the authorities to take immediate measures to prevent further tragedies.
