KW-HMB moves to address gaps as board inspects Children’s Specialist Hospital

The Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB) has identified areas requiring improvement at the Children’s Specialist Hospital, Centre Igboro, Ilorin, following a monitoring visit to assess healthcare delivery and the condition of the facility.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr Abdulraheem Malik, who led the inspection on Wednesday, said the visit was aimed at obtaining first-hand information about the hospital’s operations, including service delivery, availability of essential facilities and equipment, staff performance and patient care.

Malik said the observations made during the exercise would be considered by the Board, with appropriate steps to be taken to address identified challenges within its capacity.

“Our responsibility is to ensure that our hospitals provide safe, effective and patient-centred care. We will continue to monitor our facilities, identify areas requiring improvement and work with the management and staff to address them,” he said.

The Executive Secretary commended the management and staff of the hospital for their commitment to providing healthcare services to children, while urging them to sustain professionalism, discipline and compassion in the discharge of their duties.

He stressed the need for patients and their caregivers to receive timely, efficient and courteous services, saying the Board would continue to provide oversight and support towards improving healthcare delivery across its facilities.

Malik also urged staff to maintain a clean hospital environment, protect government property and make judicious use of available resources.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Mosunmola Folorunsho, commended the Board’s management for prioritising the welfare of staff and patients in government-owned health facilities across the state.
