Those who kidnapped the former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Professor Onje Gye Wado have demanded the sum of N70 million from his family to secure his freedom.
They communicated the family of the victim on phone to institute their demand.
A source within the victim’s family made this revelation while persuading the suspected criminals to accept the sum of N2 million for the release of the former deputy governor.
The victim’s family said the public holiday would hinder their chance of withdrawing the money in the bank.
The source said: “The kidnappers are in touch with the family of Prof and they have demanded the sum of N70 million naira, while the family has offered N2 million naira.”
“Today Friday, till Monday, is public holiday, there is nowhere we can get money and we want him (Prof), back alive”
The Informant247 earlier reported that the former number two citizen of the state was on Friday April 7 kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
The politician was kidnapped from his residence in Gwagi village of Wamba Local Government area of the state.
The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident.
Nansel said the gunmen forcefully gained entrance into the politician’s residence and took him away.
He added that the operatives of the command in collaboration with other security agencies have since commenced a search to rescue the professor.
