Kebbi LG chair releases names of 25 abducted schoolgirls, refutes U.S lawmaker’s “Christian enclaved” claim
Hussaini Aliyu, the Chairman of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, has, in refutation of the U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore claims that the attack on Government Girls Comprehensive School, Maga occured in a Christian enclaved, released the names of the 25 abducted schoolgirls.
Aliyu, while clarifying that all the abducted students are Muslims, urged the lawmaker to refrain from making unverified statements that could inflame religious or ethnic tensions, especially while efforts are ongoing to rescue the girls.
He also emphasised that the Zuru Emirate, under which the Maga community falls, has a longstanding record of religious harmony, questioning why such claims were made that could portray Nigeria negatively while reiterating local government and security agencies commitment to ensuring the safe return of all the abducted students.
