Kano Police arrest woman for kidnapping her daughter
A 25-year-old mother have been arrested by the operatives of the Kano State Police command for allegedly kidnapping her six-year-old daughter in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.
CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, the Kano State Commissioner of police made this known on Thursday while also parading 16 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and drug dealers within Kano metropolis and some surrounding LGAs of the State.
Gumel said the incident happened On 08/05/2023, when one Kabiru Shehu of Sharada Quarters, Kano Municipal Local Government reported that his 25 years divorced wife, Rahma Sulaiman called and informed him that his six-year-old daughter was kidnapped, adding that the unknown persons called her through her mobile phone demanding the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000:00k) as ransom.
The commissioner also explained that after receiving the report, the police swung into action to rescue the victim and arrest the suspects, saying based on a follow-up investigation, the victim was rescued in Madobi LGA and the divorced wife was arrested.
The commissioner added that the suspect confessed to having planned, took her daughter to a hideout, and demanded the ransom.
He said investigation was in progress and the suspect would be taken to court.
