The operatives of the Kano State Police Command on Wednesday, arrested no fewer than seven persons during a clash involving factional groups of hoodlums at the Rimi Market area of the state.
It was earlier claimed that a policeman was killed during the clash
Meanwhile, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, denied the claim, saying the policeman only sustained injuries while in the line of duty.
The Police spokesman also explained that the policemen detailed to restore normalcy in the area arrested seven suspects involved in the clash.
He stated, “The police officer was injured at the Rimi Market in Kano State while discharging his official duty during a clash by two warring groups of thugs. Seven thugs were arrested during the clash.”
However, The Commissioner of Police in the state, Muhammad Gumel, said he had ordered a discreet investigation into the case, adding that the suspects would be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
