The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC have confirmed the arrest of 55 suspects following clashes between supporters of a party in Kano.
The Corps said 6 vehicles were burnt in the clashes which occurred in the state.
The spokesperson of the NSCDC, Mr.Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, confirmed the sad development on Thursday, February 23, 2023, while addressing newsmen.
He revealed that the thugs were apprehended with sophisticated weapons along Zaria road.
He said the command got information about the clash which erupted between hoodlums of political parties around 3pm on Thursday.
He said, ” we immediately moved our men to the scene of incidence, there, and then we arrested many of these thugs with their weapons.”
He said even though the police was still carrying out investigation on the incident, the arrested suspects might have caused the violence in the affected area.
The Informant247 recalls that the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) scheduled his grand finale rally this Thursday.
In the same vein, the APC planned to hold its grand finale campaign on the same day.
The Commissioner of Police has advised the 2 political parties to postpone the campaign rallies.
