In a Kwara State magistrates’ court, Tashiu Aminu Lulu has been sentenced to five years in prison for the heinous crimes of hypnotizing and sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman, whose identity is being protected.

The case unfolded after the victim lodged a complaint with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kaiama Division, leading to the arrest of the defendant.

According to the NSCDC charge sheet, the suspect lured the victim to his residence by phone, and she unknowingly complied.

Once at his house, he compelled her to undress, an act she performed unconsciously.

Following this, he used a razor blade to collect hair from her head, armpits, and private parts, instructing her to perform incantations while holding a calabash before sexually assaulting her.

Subsequently, the victim reported experiencing distressing nightmares.

Lulu pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.

Prosecutor Abubakar Umar, representing the NSCDC, emphasized that the defendant faced a three-count charge of criminal charm, criminal assault/force, and gross indecency, all of which contravene Sections 217, 268, and 285 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Abubakar Ahmed Boro handed down a five-year prison sentence to the defendant and ordered the public destruction of the charm used by the convict in committing these offenses.
