JUST IN:Super Eagles cleared to fly back to Nigeria from Libya

The Nigeria Super Eagles are now headed back home from Libya after being stranded in Al-Abraq airport of Libya for over 16 hours.

This was confirmed by Tobi Adepoju one of the Nigerian Journalists with the team, on his X handle.

“UPDATE:
We are now boarding to Nigeria. The Internet has been hell, hopefully, further updates will drop” he said.

The Super Eagles movement
had apparently been delayed due to the refusal of the Libyan authorities to sell aviation fuel to the Airline.

Adepoju stated that the Libyan government only agreed to issue clearance for Valuejet Airline to fly and sell fuel to the plane after pressure from several quarters.

“After pressure from several quarters, the Libyan government have agreed to issue clearance for ValueJet Airline to fly and sell aviation fuel to the airline.

They came with a gimmicks to issue a pre-clearance to land in Benghazi first before we fly to Nigeria. The same Benghazi that was busy yesterday.

The NFF have insisted that the clearance from Al-Abraq airport must to be for the team to fly directly to Nigeria” he said.

Both countries now await further directive from the Confederation of African Football(CAF) on when to play the match.
