Jobless man sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for stabbing lady in Abuja
A 22-year old unemployed man, Michael Chindo, has been sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for allegedly stabbing a lady with scissors.
He was brought before an Upper Area Court Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The convict has however pleaded guilty to stabbing the lady.
The convict, who lives in old Kutunku Abuja, has been charged with causing hurt to the injured lady, criminal trespass, and theft.
Sani Umar, who’s the judge, directed the convict to make a payment of N50,000 fine for each offence or risk five months imprisonment for each of the offence.
The judge has held that the sentence would run consecutively.
The Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko, earlier, informed the court that the complainant, Mrs Florence Amah residing at 7 Praise Crescent old Kutunku, Gwaqwalada Abuja, brought the case to the awareness of the Gwagwalada Police station on Aug. 26.
The Prosecution Counsel revealed that the convict, the same date, trespassed into the room of the complainant’s daughter, Victoria and used stabbed her with scissors on her shoulder and back.
He narrated that the convict also illegally took away Infinix Note 10 cell phone which belonged to Victoria and worth N150,000 from her room.
He added that the convict scaled through the fence and ran to unknown place and was later apprehended on October 16.
The prosecutor revealed that the offence was in contravention of the provisions of Sections 348, 250 and 287 of the Penal Code.
