Jamila Bio’s service as youth minister commended by pro-democracy group amid cabinet reshuffle

A pro-democracy group, Kwara Must Change, has commended Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim for her contributions during her tenure as Minister of Youth Development, despite the brevity of her time in office.

This commendation comes following her discharge from the cabinet as part of a larger reshuffle by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement signed by Seko Jibril Gure, the State Coordinator of Kwara Must Change, the group acknowledged Dr. Ibrahim’s dedication to youth development, noting her efforts in addressing critical issues affecting young Nigerians.

“Her tenure, though short, saw significant engagement with youth-related challenges, and we appreciate her passion for public service,” the statement read.

Kwara Must Change expressed confidence in Dr. Ibrahim’s continued impact in the public service space, calling her a role model for the youth in Kwara and across the nation.

The group also emphasized that leadership transitions are inevitable in democratic settings but reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for progressive policies that prioritize youth welfare.

The discharge of Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim and four other ministers was part of a cabinet reshuffle announced by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.

The affected ministers included Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Minister of Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Minister of Tourism), Prof. Tahir Mamman (Minister of Education), and Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo (Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development).

Cabinet reshuffle and new ministerial designations

In addition to the ministerial discharges, President Tinubu reassigned ten ministers to new roles as part of efforts to optimize the administration’s efficiency.

This was confirmed in a statement released after the Federal Executive Council meeting.

The statement, signed by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, indicated that the President had approved eight actions aimed at enhancing the administration’s capacity to deliver on its promises to Nigerians.
