Another two days truce deal extension has been reached in another move that will see the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas war paused.

Qatar’s foreign minister made the announcement to extend the Gaza truce by two days on Monday.

The initial four days truce was set to expire and the urgent need for humanitarian aids to Gaza and release of more hostages had apparently occasioned the need for extension.

During its first three days, the deal between the two sides has seen a 39 Israeli hostages freed by the Hamas in exchange for 117 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari said on X, formerly Twitter “The State of Qatar announces that, as part of the ongoing mediation, an agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian truce for an additional two days in Gaza,”

Hamas claims that the truce extension was in agreement with Qatar and Egypt who have been negotiating with Israel.

Earlier, Israel had said it was open to extending the pause in fighting in exchange for release of more captives held in Gaza.

Israeli PM Netanyahu’s office says families of captives expected to be released on Monday have been informed.

Over the course of the initial truce, a total number of 50 civilian hostages, women and children, were expected to be freed by Hamas.

In exchange, 150 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel were to be released and humanitarian aid was to be allowed into Gaza.
