Islamic scholars reject El-Rufai’s ministerial appointment

The Coalition of Quranic Memorisers and Reciters has voiced their concerns regarding the potential ministerial appointment of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

They urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to carefully consider the impact of this appointment on justice, fairness, peace, and stability in the country.

Addressing journalists in Bauchi, the Director of Education, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, Sheikh Sidi Aliyu Sise, emphasized the need for caution in selecting public officials with unquestionable character.

While acknowledging the nomination and screening processes, the scholars expressed reservations about El-Rufai’s past actions, particularly in relation to the treatment of Almajirai during his time as governor.

The scholars are seeking justice and understanding for the grievances they and their followers have faced, including instances where their pupils were evacuated from the House of Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi in Kaduna to unknown destinations.

They call on the federal government to address these issues and ensure that any appointment aligns with principles of justice and fairness.

The coalition emphasizes the importance of peaceful dialogue and reconciliation in addressing past conflicts, hoping that President Tinubu will take these concerns into account while making decisions.

Their focus is on fostering unity and peace in the country, considering the large following of Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi and promoting a harmonious society.
