Ipetu-Ijesa Accident: FRSC returns victims’ N27.1m to their family

The Osun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC has returned N27.1 million recovered from an accident scene to the relations of the rightful owner.

The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dauda Ali Biu, praised the patrol teams for the show of professionalism, good conduct and honesty.

This was made known in a statement released by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Bisi Kazeem on Sunday April 9 in Abuja.

The Corps Marshal said he was satisfied with the gesture of the personnel which was a show of honesty, good conduct and sense of patriotism.

He said the money recovered by the FRSC officials was returned in the presence of the DPO Ipetu-Ijesa, Seriki Owena, Ilesa of Benin and the head of the Hausa community.

“I want to commend the entire team for being patriotic, honest, efficient and professional in delivering the mandate of the FRSC. This act they showed would never be forgotten as it is considered a great service to humanity. I charge every officer to emulate this character exhibited by the team, as good deeds pay off, the road is patient but does not forgive, ” he said.

While lamenting over the accident, the FRSC chief said the accident would have not occurred if the drivers had obeyed traffic rules and regulations.

He confirmed that the multiple road accidents which occurred in Ipetu Ijesa, in the Oriade Local Government Area of the state took lives of six persons while seven others sustained various degrees of injury.

He advised drivers to strictly obey the traffic rules and regulations to avoid accidents.
