Taiwo Awoniyi has been ruled out of the Super Eagles clash against Zimbabwe in the 2026 World Cup qualifying Group C game at Stade Huye in Butare on Sunday.
According to the Super Eagles camp update, the Nottingham Forest striker has already left camp for England after consulting with the team’s doctors.
Awoniyi was replaced by Terem Moffi 56 minutes into Thursday’s clash with Lesotho, which ended 1-1 at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles sit on top of Group C with just a point alongside the Benin Republic, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
After failing to secure a win against Lesotho, the three-time African champions are poised for a redemption mission to Zimbabwe this weekend
