INEC announces dates for Ekiti, Osun gov’ship polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially scheduled the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states for Saturday, July 20, and Saturday, August 8, 2026, respectively.

The INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made the announcement on Friday, during the swearing-in ceremony of six newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners at the headquarters in Abuja.

Yakubu emphasized the commission’s commitment to ensuring a smooth electoral process in the upcoming elections, adding that INEC is in the final stages of preparing for bye-elections aimed at filling vacant seats in both the National and State Houses of Assembly.
